The Art Behind the Frame

Clarissa Oliverio personally studied how to transform hand-woven velvets — crafted on Florentine looms dating back to the late 19th century — into acetate using techniques inspired by the Italian Renaissance. In her studio, the velvet is first treated on the back, then manually cut to the edge without seams, and carefully embedded into the acetate with a permanent adhesive that holds in any condition: wet, hot, or cold.

The hand-woven velvet and brocade pattern used in this collection dates back to 16th-century Florence, ensuring that every piece carries centuries of Italian textile heritage.
