INSPIRATION

Francesco di Giorgio Martini is considered one of the most versatile and inventive artists of his time, bridging the 15th and 16th centuries. Architect, engineer, painter, sculptor and medallist, he contributed to the scientific development of important architectural innovations, particularly in the military field. He built complex fortresses and fortifications in the territories of Federico da Montefeltro, modernising those he deemed improvable. He quickly established himself as the most authoritative exponent of Transitional Military Architecture — so named because it aimed to meet the new warfare demands brought about by the introduction of early firearms. Beyond his work as an architect and military engineer, Francesco di Giorgio Martini is renowned for his “Treatise on Civil and Military Architecture”, written during his time at the Court of the Duchy of Urbino.


DESCRIPTION

Bio-acetate: The frame is made from Mazzucchelli M49 bio-acetate, 100% recyclable and biodegradable, free from chemical binders to reduce the risk of allergic reactions. Its natural origin is also felt to the touch, with a pleasant warm and silky effect.
Front: The front design is inspired by the military fortifications born from the absolutely experimental and singular work of di Giorgio Martini, reproducing the polygonal geometries typical of what became known as “modern fortification”.
Temples: “Oar” model — named after the shape that resembles the blade of an oar.
